Jane Needs Brain Surgery — And We’re Hoping This Finally Gives Her Relief
Jane’s seizure medications are no longer enough.
Over the past several weeks, it has become increasingly clear that medication alone cannot control the pressure building around her brain. Despite everything being tried to manage her condition medically, her neurological symptoms continue to progress.
Jane’s condition is far more complex than many typical hydrocephalus cases.
Unlike many hydrocephalus kittens, Jane is not a candidate for a traditional shunt procedure. After extensive evaluation, her neurosurgeon is now recommending a highly specialized brain surgery specifically designed for the unusual type of fluid buildup surrounding the outside of Jane’s brain.
During surgery, small openings will be carefully created on both sides of Jane’s skull to release the trapped fluid and pressure compressing her brain tissue.
In addition, her neurosurgeon will surgically secure the membranes surrounding her brain in an effort to prevent fluid from becoming trapped there again in the future.
The goal of this procedure is not simply temporary relief.
The hope is that this surgery will permanently improve the flow of fluid around Jane’s brain — without implanting any hardware that could later clog, fail, become infected, or require repeated replacement surgeries as she grows.
This is not a temporary drain.
This is a major neurosurgical procedure that we are praying will finally give Jane a real chance at long-term stability, seizure control, and quality of life.
Right now, we are facing an estimated $10,000 cost for surgery and hospitalization.
We know this is a huge amount, but we also know Jane deserves every possible chance.
She has fought so hard already.
Every seizure takes a toll on her tiny body, and we are desperately hoping this surgery can finally address the underlying pressure causing so many of her symptoms instead of simply trying to manage them day by day.
Jane is loved beyond words, and we are doing everything we can to give her the future she deserves.
Thank you to everyone who has supported, shared, donated, prayed, and followed Jane’s journey so far. Your kindness has carried us through some of the hardest moments imaginable.
We are hoping this surgery finally gives her relief — not just temporary management, but a real chance to heal.
