A Missing Woman, a Georgia Apartment and a Shocking Discovery
A missing-person investigation in Smyrna, Georgia, has turned into a homicide case after police discovered human remains and arrested an 18-year-old man.
The investigation began on Wednesday, September 23, when relatives became concerned about 26-year-old Shanteria Mosley, known to friends and family as “KT.” Police were contacted after her phone and vehicle were located near the Park Valley Apartments in Smyrna.
According to investigators, officers initially visited the apartment complex and spoke with people in the area. Later that evening, witnesses reported seeing a man carrying a plastic container away from an apartment.
Police identified the man as Kingston Lammar Bradley, 18. Investigators say a container was found containing human remains. Bradley was taken into custody and initially faced a charge related to concealing the death of another person.
The case became even more serious on Friday, September 25. Detectives searching a vehicle found garbage bags inside the trunk. One of the bags appeared to contain a body part, so investigators contacted the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
After the bags were examined, authorities confirmed that they contained human remains. Based on the investigation so far, police said they believe the remains belong to Shanteria Mosley. The medical investigation and identification process are continuing.
Following the discovery, prosecutors upgraded the case against Bradley to include a malice murder charge. He remains in custody without bond.
There are still many unanswered questions.
Investigators have not publicly explained how Mosley and Bradley knew each other or why Mosley was at the apartment complex. Police also have not disclosed the exact cause of death.
Mosley’s family has said that she had been working as a DoorDash driver. However, police said company records showed that she was not logged into the platform or accepting deliveries on the day she disappeared. This has left investigators working to establish what brought her to the apartment complex.
Police have also been searching for additional evidence and conducting interviews as they attempt to reconstruct what happened.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains active. They have not announced any confirmed connection between Bradley and other crimes or victims.
For Mosley’s family, the investigation has brought grief as well as difficult questions. They are waiting for investigators to establish exactly what happened to the 26-year-old woman and why.
Bradley has been charged, but he is legally presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The investigation is ongoing, and additional information could change the understanding of the case as detectives continue examining the evidence.
For now, the Smyrna case remains an unfolding investigation, with authorities working to establish the full timeline and circumstances surrounding Mosley’s death.
