The correct answer is: 6 donkeys! 
At first glance, the picture looks like it’s filled with people, so it’s easy to miss some of the hidden donkeys.
Look carefully:
One donkey is hiding near the upper-middle section, between the people. Another appears around the middle-left area. A third is visible in the center-lower section. Several more are cleverly placed toward the lower part of the image.
That makes 6 donkeys in total. 
Most people stop counting after 5 because the donkeys blend into the crowd.
